Visit thebus.org and waikikitrolley.com • With little to no public transport on other islands, a hire car, or a combination of hire car and tours, is recommended. See below for more information on hire cars • You can also hire motorcycles, mopeds and bicycles • A scenic helicopter flight is a great way to see sights such as Waimea Canyon and the Nāpali Coast on Kaua‘i, which is inaccessible by land, and Waimanu Valley on the Island of Hawai‘i. HIRE CARS • Travellers from Australia and New Zealand do not require an international driver’s licence as major car hire companies accept licences from both countries. In some cases drivers will need to be more than 25 years of age and in possession of a major credit card. • It’s best to pre-arrange car hire prior to leaving Australia to avoid disappointment. • Rental cars offer real value as they provide the freedom and flexibility to experience what each island has to offer. • Some car hire companies offer free shuttles for customers picking up vehicles. • Remember to drive on the right-hand side of the road.
